Forgive the self-indulgence, but over the weekend I got to hold a copy of my book in my hands for the first time. Later in the weekend, I got word that copies ordered directly from UNC Press had begun to arrive at the homes of pre-orderers. As a first-time book author, this all seems pretty surreal.

Anyway, for those who are interested, you can currently get the book for 40% off through the UNCP site. Just follow this link and enter the coupon code 01DAH40 at checkout. Shipping costs obviously vary, but this puts the book price itself around $20. Despite it not officially releasing until April 22, it apparently is shipping already if you order directly from the press. Of course, if you can get it through an independent bookstore, that’s great, but since it’s an academic press it would probably need to be a special request unless you’re in the Chicago area.

Lastly, thanks to the community here for pushing me on certain issues over the past nearly year and a half (?!) since I came aboard. As I noted in the book’s acknowledgements, my co-bloggers and the LGM commentariat have both been helpful in helping me hone my thinking. I still don’t like police unions, though.
