I was pleased that the fine folks at ESPN International were able to bring to us one of the best NFL games of the year last night. Always nice to see Russell Wilson remind everyone that he’s one of the NFL’s great QBs. And kudos to Pete Carroll and (I cannot tell a lie) longtime friend of LGM Brian Schottenheimer for not turtling on the clinching drive with Patrick Mahomes sitting on the other sideline. The 45-yard bomb to Tyler Lockett was a particular highlight — exactly how to exploit a stacked box with an elite thrower and speedy wideout — and while it was too bad Baldwin got stopped at the 1 it was good to see bruising Chris Carson get behind an actually competently coached offensive line get in for the clinching TD. Overwhelming, one might say.

…as a way of wishing Magary the best, I was also reminded of his dissection of Andy Benoit’s comic masterpiece, “Russell Wilson is no Matthew Stafford.” Remember, he WATCHED THE TAPE people!
