Of course:

After going down and re-injuring his knee during practice this afternoon, Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill might require season-ending surgery to repair it, according to reports from Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Tannehill originally injured his knee last December, when he partially tore his ACL during a game against the Cardinals. He opted against having surgery at the time, and since, his knee has been “a ticking time bomb that was going to go off at any time,” per one of Schefter’s sources.

And the free ride when you’ve already paid is that this actually hurts the Jets, who…well, “tanking” seems too mild for a team that seems to be seriously considering giving playing time to Christian Hackenberg. (Hinkieing?) Anyway, even if Mueller can get his hands on the tax returns Trump can console himself with the fact that his team has a 100% chance of winning the AFC Least rather than the usual 99%.

Speaking of which, Richard Sherman is the best:

“What is it about?” Sherman said. “It’s not about football or color. It’s about, ‘Boy, stay in your place.’

“He played in Chip (Kelly)’s system last year and went 16-4 (TD-to-INT ratio) on a bad team. He played well because he’s a good football player. He may not be the best, but he’s better than a lot of these dudes starting.”

[…]

In Sherman’s eyes, this – on the heels of New York Giants co-owner John Mara maintaining during the offseason that he has received intense feedback from fans denouncing Kaepernick – advances the blackball theory.

“For you to say you have to check with sponsors and fans because this guy took a knee and made a statement?” Sherman said. “Now if you told me this guy threw eight pick-sixes last year and played like a bum, had no talent, that’s one thing. But Ryan Fitzpatrick, Ryan Mallett or whoever is playing for the Jets right now – whoever is starting for the Jets is terrible – have jobs. You’re telling me fans would rather you lose and put a worse player out there because a guy took a stand? That’s where it’s so troublesome to me.”

Sherman cited a few examples, including the Jacksonville Jaguars’ Blake Bortles and the Los Angeles Rams’ Jared Goff, as starters that don’t measure up to Kaepernick.

“Blake Bortles has shown you enough to where you don’t think Kaep would be a solid fit?” Sherman added. “Kaep has won games.”

The idea that Kaepernick isn’t being blackballed is just flatly absurd. He’s a below-average but clearly above replacement-level QB. Kelly, not exactly a warm-and-fuzzy player’s coach, thought he worked hard. To claim that he’s not one of the 64 best QBs in the league when he’s plainly in the top 30, or that he’s too much of a “distraction,” is just insulting people’s intelligence. He doesn’t have a job because of his political views, period.
