As previously discussed in this space, last year the Montreal Canadiens made an astoundingly bad challenge trade, trading their best player (or, at least, best non-goaltender) for a player who is 4 years older and is a worse player at the same position. Because Montreal got off to a decent start, numerous pundits tried to develop various rationalizations to deny that the Habs had been completely fleeced. Then the regular season ended. To briefly review:

  • The Predators managed to overcome the DISTRACTIONS caused by GLORY BOY P.K. Subban to sweep the Chicago Blackhawks.
  • The Canadiens, buoyed by Shea Weber’s LEADERSHIP and DRESSING ROOM PRESENCE, lost to an underwhelming Rangers team in 6.

Heckuva job!

[Title term was Tyler Dellow’s before I later originated it.]
