Those Who Forget History Are Doomed To Keep Losing Elimination Games

As we recently discussed, Buck Showalter lost a chance to manage the pending dynasty he played a major role in assembling in the Bronx by completely screwing up an elimination playoff game. Because he is a very good manager overall he had the chance tonight to manage in another playoff elimination game. And…he committed a similar massive blunder, having a well-below-average starter pitch the 11th inning with a reliever with a 0.54 ERA rested and healthy in the bullpen, with predictable results. It’s quite astounding. I dunno if the Orioles should fire Buck, but they should bribe the umpires to eject him in the 7th inning of any elimination playoff game and put him in an isolation booth somewhere.
