My mother-in-law is obsessed with People magazine. She’s gone so far as to download their app, so she can get minute-to-minute updates on the lives of fat-bottomed celebutantes. I have been informed that Kimye’s wedding was over-the-top, which shocked the hell out of me, as Kanye West and Kim Kardashian are nothing if not models of restraint and modesty. Thank you, People magazine, for letting me know.

BUTT, it turns out that People is good for more than just rubbernecking at celebs; it’s also good for making celery more than just a green water-stick*. The following is a recipe for blue cheese dip. It’s not fancy, it’s not avant garde, but it is one of the most delicious things I’ve ever put in my mouth.

BLUE CHEESE & CHIVE DIP

Makes about 3 cups

1 cup sour cream

1 cup mayonnaise

1 cup crumbled blue cheese

1½ tbsp. honey

1 tsp. lemon juice, or to taste

4 tbsp. finely chopped chives, or to taste

Kosher salt

Pepper

1. Combine first 6 ingredients in a bowl and mix. Season dip with salt and pepper to taste. Serve with sweet potato chips.

I served the dip with hot wings and celery sticks, in addition to the sweet potato chips.

YOU’RE WELCOME.

* I actually really like celery, hearts especially.

Sound good? Do you have a go-to dip?
