Everyone thinks that sorority girl’s letter is a huge joke, but it kind of bothered me. It sounds like she’s hectoring her “sisters” to make themselves more available sexually.

You’re reading a lot into it, then. Sometimes pregaming is just pregaming.

I don’t think so. My understanding, from having read Pledged, is that Greek Week is serious business.

Letters like this are certainly one of the reasons I did not join a sorority . . .

I’m not sure that it’s even urging them to put out so much as it is deferring to some bros’ fee-fees getting hurt because the sisters didn’t constantly ego-stroke them. It apparently didn’t occur to this sorority prez that her chapter members might have talked amongst themselves or cheered for another frat because the Sigma Nu boys were total wet-ends.

I bet Dylan Matthews is kicking himself for not waiting a week to write that story on the deficit – he has a whole section debunking Reinhart-Rogoff, pre-Herndon.

D’oh! It’s Chris Clarke writing at PZ’s pad. Sorry for the misattribution.

Matt Yglesias needs what he’s needed for the last decade. To put down the writing, and go experience some real life unsheltered by his parents’ money and privilege. Perhaps he can go to work in Bangladesh for a few years as a factory worker (even working at a Wal-Mart in Arkansas for a few months might open his eyes a bit). His writing will improve and who knows – he might even grow a soul while he’s doing it.

As it stands now it’s looking like he’ll grow up into the next Tom Friedman, but possibly with worse writing tics.

As we used to say back in school, “Does not compute.”

Michael Shannon is fantastic. One of the reasons why I enjoyed The Runaways so much, aside from having been a Joan Jett fan since time immemorial, is that Shannon plays their manipulative manager, Kim Fowley; every time he came on the screen I think that I subconsciously white-knuckled the edge of my seat.

P.S. He’s probably the main reason to see Man of Steel; he’s playing Zod.
