   Chuch Hagel must be thinking, “I’m a decorated Vietnam War Veteran, do they remember me for that? No.
   I was a severely Conservative Republican Senator for years, do they remember me for that? No.
   I owned shares in an Electronic Voting Machine that may have helped George W. Bush win the 2004 election, and do they remember me for that? No.
   But, make one comment about there being a “Jewish Lobby,” and you’re an anti-Semite for life!?

   You have understand that everything starts with the premise, unassailable, that anything the president does is wrong. Then think of an argument, any argument, no matter how fact-free, contradictory, absurd, or fanciful. Then write the editorial. It’s simple.

   I was alarmed when I realized that Hiatt graduated in my class at that place up in Cambridge. Just goes to show that you can have a fancy degree and be a moron. (I suppose there are those who would use me as another example.)

     I wonder if it matters. For years the only reason for TNR to exist was to be “even the liberal TNR . . .” If it isn’t that, does anybody care that it’s there?
