At least there’s an app for it now. UNITE-HERE has developed an app allowing you to find a union hotel in the cities where you stay. For those of you who travel, this is an easy way to support union workers, collective bargaining, and fair pay and working conditions. Please take advantage.

Any idea what the category “risk of dispute” represents? Is that union with contract problems? Or a disputed organizing campaign? Or just random third party pickets out front?

What a PItA!. First, its Apple only so screw us Android owners. Second, I clicked the “Unite on line” link assuming it would allow me to used the tool on my PC – NO! it takes me to a link to DL the stupid Apple App.
I want to use this but they did not make that possible. Crap, even a stupid PDF with hotel names on it would be more helpful.

What would be interesting to see if the unionized hotels were actually the same price of non-union hotels or if they are more expensive.

It’s a good question. Not because it would change the behavior of either those who support unions or those who don’t.
The reason it’s a good question is if the unionized hotels are, indeed, more expensive then it demonstrates that businesses are simply passing along the additional labor costs to the consumer.
I think this is a relevant point to this issue.
If there is no difference, then why would anyone NOT want to use unionized hotels? Or unionized labor of any sort? The additional money would be coming out of the profits of the business and not being passed through.
