One of my favorites in his early career, and a hell of a cast and a promo video. “Und you, Duke Ellington?” “I do!”
I’d tell you all what the cause of death was, but a polar bear fell on me.
He’ll always be the evil Brad Wesley in Road House to me.
Not according to the NYT obit linked above: lots of his Broadway roles, but not a word about his work with Swayze….
I demand to know who is killing off all the people who starred in Road House. I think it might be Sam Elliott.
Kelly Preston better be wary
She already came close, when Charlie Sheen shot her while they were dating.
Wait–it was Kelly Lynch who was in Road House. That curse is potent.
I noticed that. Elitist scum.
Funny thing is, Erik, on my first viewing of “Lebowski” some older acquaintances had to inform as to who that actor in the scene was. They did so by laughing out loud when he came into view. I guess that’s one kind of tribute.
It was a pretty great little piece of casting. Superb entrance for him too. Giant bonfire in the background, slo-mo. Awesome.
Where to begin with so many good roles: Saint Jack, one of Peter Bogdanovich’s best, but least heralded films, Anatomy of a Murder, and one of my personal favorites, the bizarre, creepy The Strange One, with a bizarre performance by Arthur Storch.
My first memory of him, however, was in the television series Run For Your Life.
Very very good in Anatomy of a Murder- one of his pretty early roles- I think his second film role.
“But you — you get paid to beat people up! Tell me you don’t love it. Of course you do! You’d be crazy if you didn’t!”
Gazzara was even good on QB VII, otherwise one of the cheesiest pieces of shit ever made from a cheesy piece-of-shit novel.
