Say hello to PolitiFact!

The best part of the Politifact Grand Poohbah’s inadvertently perfect parody of high Broderism is that it contains no defense of his credibility-destroying choice on the merits at all. Some criticisms are conceded to be reasonable; others merely quoted as if the fact that they’re harsh makes them ipso facto wrong. Other than citing other equally useless “fact-checkers,” he has nothing.

Which, of course, he doesn’t. Question-begging isn’t fact-checking, and asserting that the claim that the Ryan plan ends Medicare is a “lie” assumes the truth of the extremely contestable Republican definition of what’s essential to Medicare. (Their unwillingness to apply this definition to anyone expecting to receive Medicare benefits in the near future tells us that this definition isn’t shared by most of the public either.)
