Live And In Person!

For residents of New York’s lovely capital region, I note that I will be debating the constitutionality of the ACA at the Albany Law School tonight at 6. I get the easy side!

  • There’s a lot of great ways to enjoy Albany! 87 leaves from both the north and the south, providing for quick and easy escape, if you have a motor vehicle handy. There is also a kind of “airport” featuring technology of the Flintstones class.

    • I rather like Albany myself.

Well, let’s be frank, it’s no Binghamton.

I am baffled by criticism of the Albany airport; not having to deal with LGA or JFK represents a major quality of life increase. If we could only get JetBlue…

        • Waingro

Poor Binghamton. Even the other burnt-out and depressed upstate NY cities make fun of it, which is like Rick Perry calling Michelle Bachman stupid.

          • Look out Utica! Binghamton is a city on the grow!

I’ve been to many a conference in downtown Albany, always in February…

Look out Utica! Binghamton is a city on the grow!

When Binghamton gets its own brand of beer, let me know.

                Don’t forget the Uitca greens!

I very much like Albany, but I can’t blame people for bad impressions if they only see the downtown, a classic Robert Moses-style horror show.

The Rockefeller-era state buildings are an abomination. That shit is almost designed to intentionally induce despair.

Well, Albany was an actual place, while Brasilia was simply the center of the country. To the best of my knowledge, the only other metropolitan area to get its location simply by being in the geographic center is, coincidentally enough, State College, PA.

And, of course, the awful plaza is compounded by the intracity freeway destroying the Hudson riverfront. Christ, urban planners in that era were history’s greatest monsters.

Ever since the remodel, I’ve found the Albany airport to be quite nice. How many other small-market airports have a meditation room?

Will a transcript be available afterwards? I want to see you take this guy apart.

Also, calling it now; I have no idea who Robert Alt is, but seeing as how he’s a Heritage flak, I submit he will basically be arguing that most if not all commerce clause jurisprudence and legislation since Lochner is unconstitutional.

I’m disappointed that you didn’t go with “Live from New York…”

To make the contest more fair (and interesting), why don’t they make the two of you attempt to convince Justice Kennedy?

    So close!
I live about 2 hours away, but sadly, I can’t afford the gas to get there.

Good luck! Or, as we say in the theate game – break a leg!!!

  • Julian

Alt has done things “extensively” but you’ve only done things regularly. You’re doomed.

Will WAMC be there in one form or another?

“WAMC: Everything you wish NPR was” is the motto. Okay, I’m only projecting that, but they do a ton of local programming, don’t suffer idiots, and can fight their way leftwards out of a wet paper bag.

So are you going to reference Wickard and then just drop the mic and walk away?
