The Senate Republican budget will probably require people to eat broccoli deep fried Twinkies!

If they don’t take their own constitutional arguments seriously, I’m certainly not going to.

As a reply of your piece shows, you clearly are mistaken. This is different. It’s a different angel on the head of the pin. You are forgiven for your Obama loving ways.

I’m sorry, but conservatives do not do “consistency”. The only core principles they have is winning at any cost.

    • redrob

Say what you will about “winning at any cost”, at least they’re consistent.

      • Kurzleg

Redrob – I think you meant to say, “…at least it’s an ethos.”

        • redrob

And they’re consistent about pursuing it.

OK, hats off to Scott. Good catch and while I’m loathe to agree with Robert Reich, he’s right.

*ANY* mandate is certainly unconstitutional regardless of the political party that proposes it.

It’s just that while Scott wants to play “gotcha”, he doesn’t really belive there is anything wrong with a mandate enforced by the full power of the federal government.

When Scott comes to understand that individual liberty and private property are the cornerstones of our society, then I will afford him more kudos.

      Exactly. Ayn Rand understood.

Ayn Rand citing on Colbert last night.

When Scott comes to understand that individual liberty and private property are the cornerstones of our society, then I will afford him more kudos.

When the advocates of these cornerstones are able to consistently do so in the modern political environment, Scott will certainly reach that understanding.

“*ANY* mandate is certainly unconstitutional regardless of the political party that proposes it.”

What provision of the constitution is violated by mandating behavior? I’m not aware of any provision that constrains the democratic process so completely. Congress requires people to act in specific ways all the time. Was the draft unconstitutional?

individual liberty and private property are the cornerstones of our society

Ah, but is not social insurance the keystone of our society? Or maybe the hot water heater, or the HVAC system?

I am pretty sure that elected officials having political integrity rates at least the front hallway of our society. I’d even go as far as the foyer.

    • Adequate building codes which ensure working keystones are the keystone of our society.

        What are you….twelve?

        • No, just flippant. What are you, stupid and politically incoherent?
