I sometimes have the same sort of reaction to my government’s threat perceptions.

    This is exactly why we have words like “ginormous” and “humongous.”

    Blow a young mind. Point out that the only word for a number in English that has as many letters as the number expresses is four. I once wasted most of an afternoon searching for a counter-example.

    In Irish, “small” is beag, which sounds a little like “big”. And if you need to use a public toilet in an Irish-speaking region, be aware that “M” and “F” on the doors might not be the same sure guide they are elsewhere.
