Scott got it right.  The quote was directed at the character Willie Mays Hayes (played by Wesley Snipes) who promoted himself by saying he runs like Hayes (a reference to Dallas Cowboy wide-receiver Bob Hayes who was known for his speed) and hits like Hall of Famer Willie Mays.</description>
