“I didn’t think the RNC would play Moon River, but bam, second encore!”
The fact that various Republicans and their media lickspittles are trying to generate a faux scandal out the Black Panthers would indeed seem to explain why Branson is a viable tourist attraction. Next week, I expect Sean Hannity and Breitbart to uncover indisputable video evidence that Shirley Sherrod is part of a massive conspiracy involving Eugene Debs and the Wobblies. And ACORN is as all-powerful as ever!

And not even the real Black Panthers, but some kind of contemprary tribute band
And a really lame one at that.
Those two New Panthers must be stupid. Original recipe Panthers would have brought guns, which, as we were told when the dozen guys showed up at the Obama speech with handguns and AR-15 assault rifles, are merely the exercise of constutional rights of free speech and bearing arms, and not the least bit threatening or intimidating. They probably would have gotten support and sympathy from the NRA and right-wing “shooter’s networks” across the country.
At the very least we could have enjoyed watching a few heads explode.
How about this for a thrilling encore performance:

I have read the Court’s decision. Three people are not a “mob.” A mob is defined as a “large crowd.” So there was no “mob action” because there was no mob. Second, the Supreme Court specifically said the Sheriff and his deputy and a local policeman acted “under color of law.” Which means they had legal authority.
Seriously though, part of the privilege of dishing is taking. I dished. You dished back. Not to get squishy on us, but that is generally considered dialogue.
Oh, And Boo Radley over there Reasoning away. When can I have a retraction for…how does one say…being “shameless” and “ignorant”?
Anytime. Next time, Boo…read the dictionary AND the case.
Your pal, Atticus Lord.
The “Boo Radley” he references is Radley Balko over at Reason Magazine’s Hit n Run blog. Holy moly.
Oh, I’ll be getting to this.
I left out a couple ellipses out, there is more to read than I posted.
John Stuart Mill was wrong, conservatives really are all profoundly stupid. Unfortunately the contagion seems to be spreading.
Branson is on a death spiral- mark my words. A depressing and horrible place, but the lake is nice.
“a massive conspiracy involving Eugene Debs and the Wobblies.”
Oh God, if only.
ACORN is as all-powerful as ever!
While the point of this post is well taken, I always find jokes like this a bit off putting. What happened to ACORN is a huge f*cking tragedy. There are tens of thousands of poor people across the country who aren’t getting home loans and EITC payments and bank accounts and just minimal day-to-day attention from their elected officials because of the destruction of ACORN.
You all have written dozens of posts mocking the right for ACORN hysteria and none, as far as I can tell, on what the organization actually did or why it mattered. Funny set of priorities.
1) Excellent point.
2) I’m glad to see you’ve finally started a blog; I’m looking forward to reading.
Hey, thanks!
Also, as a commenter, my new policy is to try to ignore the posts here that piss me off, instead of posting angry denunciations. Better for everyone.
