Impeccable What Now?

s.z does a nice job with K-Lo’s interview with uberhack Edward Klein. To further build on her point about Klein’s alleged lack of political agenda, it’s also worth highlighting these quotes:

NRO: You’ve got good liberal credentials. Is this book the end of that?

Klein: I have never had an ideological ax to grind. I?m a registered independent ? a reporter who goes where the truth leads me. And I intend to stay that way and let the chips fall where they may.

Ah, he’s not a conservative, he’s an independent, like Bill O’Reilly. It continues:

NRO: Did you vote for Bill Clinton?

Klein: No.

NRO: You’re a New Yorker. Did you vote for Hillary for senator? Would you vote for Hillary for president?

Klein: No and no.

So his “impeccable liberal credentials” do not seem to be based on, you know, having liberal policy positions, or voting for Democratic candidates, but on the fact the he wrote for the New York Times magazine. Like Christopher Caldwell and William Safire. In other words, his status as a “liberal” is as fake as Joe Klein’s. But you can bet that you’ll be hearing a lot more about Klein’s alleged liberalism while the media flogs his piece-of-shit doorstop.
